About "Editing that Works"

Caroline Jarrett and Jane Matthews write and maintain "Editing that works".

Jane is a communications consultant, journalist and writer. Find her at Janematthews.com.

Caroline works with organisations to help them make their forms easier to use, and that led to being interested in better content.

If you have any suggestions, comments, or would like training in editing for the web, email Caroline or visit Caroline's consultancy web site Effortmark.

Thank you, writing trainees

This website started in 2004 to support training for people working with the UK tax authorities, at that time called the Inland Revenue. The trainees were great and made all sorts of useful suggestions.

Since then, every time we have done a training course we have benefited from feedback and found ways to improve it. Thank you to everyone who has joined us in a course.

Thank you Julia, Whitney, and Francis

Julia Allum designed the posters.

From 2004 to 2025, the website had a design based on one by Whitney Quesenbery and Francis Rowland drew the pictures.
